Western Wall
Also referred to as Al-Buraq Wall
The most sacred site for the Jews is a place of high emotion and prayer. The wall that one views is all that remains of the second temple built by Herod and destroyed by the Romans in 70AD. A large plaza extends in front of the wall and those who wish to pray go forward to the wall in either the women’s section or the men’s. It is customary to place prayer requests, written on paper, between the stones that make up the Western wall.
